Symptoms of Kapha-type Dysmenorrhea:
- Timing of pain: More pain in the later part of menstruation period
- Congestion
- White discharge
- Bloating
- Water retention
- Heaviness
- Lethargy and drowsiness
- Sleepiness during the day
Remedies for Vata-type Dysmenorrhea:
- Take ½ tablespoon of a mixture of purnarva, manjistha and trikatu (in ratio 4:4:1) should be taken with warm water after lunch and dinner.
- Take 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel thrice a day before food with 2 pinches of black pepper till the pain subsides.
- Apply of castor oil and mustard oil (in ratio 1:1) on the lower abdomen.
- Ayurvedic medicine - Punarnava guggulu - 1 tablet to be taken twice a day. [Consult a medicine practitioner before taking any medicine]
Remedy useful for all types of Dysmenorrhea:
Dry roast cumin seeds until they smell pungent. Cool these and chew 1 tablespoon slowly followed with 1 tablespoon of aloe vera juice.
