What is ghee?
When butter is cooked, its watery portion separates out and the residua; condensed matter prepared from it is known as ghee or clarified butter.
The best quality:
Ghee made from cow's milk is considered to be the best in quality.
Uses:
- Ghee enhances, intelligence, memory and sharpens the brain.
- It promotes digestion.
- It clears doshas from body channels.
- It lubricates the body channels.
- It increases strength, life span, semen, vision, fertility, glow, tenderness, and sound quality.
- It is a good rejuvenator.
How to use ghee:
- Regular intake of milk and ghee is the best nourishing and rejuvenating combination.
How to use aged ghee:
- Massage with old ghee is recommended in pain of ribs, upward circulation of Vata, cough, diminished vision and chronic fever.
- Old ghee eradicates epilepsy, intoxication, passing out, malaria and diminished vision.
- It cleans and heals wounds.
- It cures disorders of the head, ears, eyes, and female genital organs.
- It acts as anti-bacterial and anti-viral.
- It is especially beneficial in pneumonia.
Relation to doshas:
- If taken in excess, increases Kapha.
- If taken moderately, decreases Pitta and Kapha.

Ghee has the property of increasing the potency of any herbal preparation.
